Good News.... 12/11/2009

This is really happening people!!!  Sorry, I had to get that off of my chest.  We are officially moving to Paris on December 28th.  I have tickets in hand (actually e-tickets sitting in my inbox).

We also found some tenants to lease our home for the first year we are away.  Pretty exciting stuff.  We didn't have many people "walk through" our house (which I secretly liked).  Dan and I had decided that we were going to take our house off the market at the end of the week because we were getting down to the wire and I thought it was just too much to juggle.  We felt pretty good about this decision but I had some worries about leaving our beautiful house empty for a year.  She would be so lonely; what if she cried at night (through our ceiling) and no one was here to see it and help her (or call the plumber).  You know, things like that.

I met the couple and their one child and I thought they were lovely.  Can I say that I love it that there is only one child.  We had one lady look at our house and she had five children.  Ugh.  I just couldn't swallow that pill.  "Our poor house" is all I thought.

Anyway, we have scheduled movers and we fly out on December 28th and they come in on December 29th and pack, move and store our "stuff".  We have a dear friend who will be at the house when we leave and will oversee the movers.  I love it that the kids will walk out the front door, looking back at their house (that they LOVE) looking pretty.  It will feel (to them) like we are going on an extended vacation.  We will hop into a taxi and head to the airport like they have done many times before.

That's great! And how exciting you have tickets. Makes it so much more real.

Me again! I took the quiz and got Global Casual. Sounds about right for me:
"Your home is warm and inviting, and expresses your curiosity and zest for life. You have wide-ranging interests, and an appreciation for many different cultures and ways of life. You bring a sense of the far-flung world into your home through its décor through unique or artisan-made treasures. Objects in your home tend to reflect your personality, your passions, your values, and your eclectic interests. This gives your home a sense of intrigue and comfort.

You value serenity. While there are probably a lot of interesting things in your home, they are joined by your taste or a certain palette that keeps them in harmony. You appreciate the beauty in simple forms. Whether fancy or plain, you appreciate things that are well made and function as well as they look. You also have a strong respect for the environment and craftsmanship. You care about how things are made, and how they are used."

Gina, what are your days like now? I'm just curious how the movers will know what to send and what to store. Is your house like mine . . .tons of stuff in the basement from when the kids were babies and lots of other junk . . .or, are are you organized with everything in order. I would think you would have to be super orderly to undertake this venture at Christmas time. Will you have time to pack up your Christmas things? Would love to hear what fills your everyday. . .hope you don't mind the ??? I guess I think I'm busy . . .can't imagine your life right at the present. . .I can only dream of having such problems. God bless!
