"Mary Did You Know" 12/21/2009
This is my favorite Christmas song. I especially loved listening to it yesterday while lying on the couch and hearing the kids sing it in their tiny voices. I kept on rewinding the song and asking them to sing it to me again and again. It was so relaxing and the words were piercing my heart and saturating my soul. This Christmas hasn't felt like Christmas to me (for obvious reasons). I haven't been listening to Christmas music like I normally do, I am not cooking, I am not baking, I am not decorating the house much, and I am not shopping for much. Instead, I am wishing it all away. I felt so convicted yesterday afternoon while listening to this amazing song. Jesus is worth my full attention. He IS the reason for my joy and my eternal life. I need to slow down (as much as I possibly can) and reflect on this amazing time of year. It is a season filled with joy, hope and peace. I hope that you are slowing down and enjoying this Christmas. Merry Christmas! CommentsDebra P. Mon, 21 Dec 2009 08:45:18 Gina, that is a truly beautiful song! As moms, I think the key words here are . . .slow down! We are always so busy preparing for the celebration of Christmas that it's easy to get sidetracted . . .after all, we are human. But, please don't get down for all the things you aren't doing this year . . .focus on what you are doing . . .just listening to that song with your children is so powerful. You may not be baking or elaborately decorating, but I am sure you are doing many other things that honor the season. (I decided not to send cards this year and I'm still trying to let that one go). May God bless you and your family as your embark on the next chapter of your life! and, A very Merry Christmas to you!
