My Comfort Box 12/14/2009
As you probably guessed, there are many American foods that me and my family love yet won't have available to us in Paris. I perused the grocery aisles last month (while apartment hunting in Paris) to take stock of what the french have on their shelves and noticed they were missing so many comforting American treats. I asked our mover if I could pack a "box of comfort" for my family. He said "no problem". My "comfort box" is full to the brim with Bisquick pancake mix, maple syrup, kraft macaroni and cheese, stove top stuffing, brownie mix, muffin mix, wheat thins (my favorite), goldfish crackers, peanut butter, fiddle faddle (Dan's favorite), and microwave popcorn, Did I miss anything? I've heard sour cream as well but that doesn't pack so well. lol Tue, 15 Dec 2009 02:38:47 No maple syrup, really? I would have thought you could find that. Anything that has high fructose corn syrup in it here won't be sold over there. They don't allow genetically modified foods. That's why the Coke tastes different in other countries. You'll have so many yummy things to choose from. We always bring home a box of French foods, although now Kroger sells our favorite cookies from France. The Lipton tea is so much better over there, plus the olive oil and the mustard and my kids love the mint syrup that you mix with water. Lots of new foods to enjoy, but I'm sure you'll miss many things here. Leave a Reply |
