The machine is tiny and they say it washes and dries.  The truth is that is washes, yes, but what they don't tell you is that it takes approximately 2 hours for one load of laundry.  The machine spins and turns, water gurgles, when it gets going real fast, it sounds like a jet plane is coming in for landing.

I have found the dryer to be quite useless.  It simple spins the clothes in it's drum, spewing hot water.  I still need to hang the clothes to dry after "the dryer cycle".

So don't be surprised when you visit and you see clothes hanging from warm radiators, door handles or strewn over laundry baskets.........

I promise once I move back to the United States, to never complain of doing laundry...........I covet your large efficient washers, oh how I miss the soft fluffy towels coming out of the dryer.

Until then, we will "try" and find the "quaintness" of hanging our laundry "out to dry".  Our balcony will surely have clothes hanging from it this summer.

This one made me laugh..I still joke about the washing machines in England...grr..grr..grr..stop grr.grr...grrr.stop for what seems like hours and there is only 2 pairs of sock, one pair of jeans and a t-shirt..yes and then all over the radiators, backs of chairs..and when you put something in there, there is no way to get it out or add something to the load..It is locked in there...horrible!! I thought it was one of the worse things about living there...oh yeah and the tiny water heaters for a miniscule showers..

The equipment they use here in France is OK; as long as you do the laundry on a ½ a day schedule and the only clothes you need to wash are worn by Stuart Little! Thanks Honey, I know doing the laundry is painful and drying the clothes is remarkable exercise in ingenuity as you try to find places new and innovative to hang clothes for your family! Getting up in the middle of the night can be terrifying for our twins when my size 16-1/2 33 shirt draped around a lamp shade looks like a headless stalker! The poor kids…they’re going to be traumatized for life!!! (Just kidding) Yes, the washers and dryers in the United States certainly have some advantages over the equipment used here. But hey, where else can you tour places dating back thousands of years wearing gray t-shirts!?
