I wonder if they will remember.......... 03/25/2010
I wonder if they will remember having picnic lunches on our balcony when the weather was pleasant. Will they remember yelling to the pedestrians below "BON JOUR", then waving frantically with wide American grins plastered on their faces? What memories will they carry back home with them????? I wonder.......... CommentsThu, 25 Mar 2010 11:02:16 It's funny how they incorporate our memories with theirs and it all becomes a big collage of "the time in France." Now that mine are teenagers, they love sharing what they remember and they can't wait to visit again. When Tucker was 2 we went to France. After we came home, I was carrying him in a Staples store and it had a map with pictures of Paris monuments. He pointed at the map and said "Arc de Triomphe." Ah, that made it all worth it. Shelly Fri, 26 Mar 2010 02:41:51 I sure hope they remember and if they forget some of the details they have a wonderful mom who has blogged the experience for them. Thanks for sharing. Elizabeth Fri, 26 Mar 2010 05:38:51 Do the French not smile? Fri, 26 Mar 2010 08:45:03 OH, Gina. It is hard to know but it being Paris and so different I couldn't help but think they will remember. And, seeing as they are doing everyday things with you now and your remarks or enthusiam will help them mark the time. Now, I don't want be presumptuous (sp) but one thing I noticed about our older girls (now 13 & 11) is that David made scrapbooks with them (as a single dad he moment by moment took pictures out the whazoo, he says that) in their toddler years. milestones he marked for them and things they liked...and for the next few years they would walk around showing me the books and telling me stories (when David and I first got married) so that I could know them. Now thankfully they treasure them still. Jenni Fri, 26 Mar 2010 18:00:26 How precious, Gina! What a gift to see your two little ones enjoying each other so much and living life to the fullest! I know my kids don't remember a lot from younger years but I think overall feelings are impressed upon their hearts and stay with them. And then the pictures they see later (and you're SO good at taking pictures!!) help them to connect visuals with those impressions. No matter what, your kids will remember the thrill of an adventure, the safety and protection of family, the deep love of their mom and dad, the companionship of each other...Stuff that will stay with them a lifetime and provide a foundation from which to draw upon down the road! You are such a gift to them, Gina!!! :) Dan Fri, 26 Mar 2010 19:12:50 I do hope so...I'm sure they will remember much of what they experience here... Aunt Sally Sat, 27 Mar 2010 19:40:47 I don't think anything evokes memories like pictures and someone to jog your mind. How can the kids lose, you have created the path for them to follow with your blog and all the great pics. Fast forward twenty years, the best part of those memories will have been sharing them with such loving parents!! Leave a Reply |
